“Hot Rocks”

The Westside wildfire from across Okanagan Lake, Lake Country, British Columbia, Canada

From our place in Lake Country we saw the fire growing and growing across the valley. The wind was fuelling it making any attempt to control it futile as it surged uphill. Finally I was convinced to go out and take some pictures and we were not alone as many people lined the shores of Okanagan Lake to watch it. It was a very mixed feeling as we watched and I took some shots knowing that some people are fearing for the homes and firefighters are under stress to contain it. The good news is that this one did not damage property or life and it began naturally from lightning strike.

tech: sigma 15mm diagonal fisheye, f2.8, 30 seconds, iso 800. I blended in 2 other much shorter exposures for the firelight which was blown out at 30 seconds.
